Culture

Georgia is located at the junction of two big cultures – the eastern and the western. Hence, it represents a complex blend of the western, oriental and local traditions.

Georgians are rightfully proud of their century’s old polyphonic songs, remarkable national dances, medieval frescos and wine and feast culture. The country is thought to be the homeland of the grape vine and winemaking. In the 19th-20th centuries Georgia became a place where modern arts including theatre, opera and ballet started to get developed. Especially remarkable is Georgian cinematography with number of films being recognized as the masterpieces of the world cinema art.

The most important parts of the Georgian culture are polyphonic Georgian songs and Georgian dances, which are difficult to describe at full extent of their beauty but definitely worth coming to the country on an extra trip to explore them.
